Welcome to the Redlands Unified School District Website! The Redlands Unified School District, as a unifying agent of several unique communities rich in local history, culture, and tradition, is committed to preparing students to become productive participants in a diverse, multi-cultural, democratic society through quality education, high expectations, flexible programs and innovative partnerships. Our students will be empowered with the knowledge and commitment necessary to confront the challenges of our changing world, as they become the leaders of the 21st century.
Dear Parents of Redlands USD Students:
On Monday, August 21, 2017 all of North America will experience an eclipse of the sun. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks any part of the sun. For the first time since 1918, the solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the entire United States.
Redlands will experience a Partial Eclipse. The partial eclipse will begin at 9:06am and last for two hours and forty minutes. The maximum event with 70 percent of the sun covered will occur at 10:23am, concluding at 11:46am.
Safety during the eclipse is our top priority. Looking directly at the sun is unsafe. Because of safety concerns, precautionary measures will be taken to protect students:
Even though Redlands will experience a partial eclipse, this is still an exciting event. It is important that we take these precautionary measures and follow important rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our students. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
Please visit this link for a PDF version of the Solar Eclipse Viewing Permission Slip.
The first day of school for all Redlands Unified School District students is Wednesday, August 9.
