Update #3: Monday, April 13th (week 1 of distance learning)

The school district website has opened up distance learning pages for each grade level.  Click on the fifth grade one and you will be able to see some basic lessons for the week-

Journeys-Lesson 21, Pg. 630 This will look familiar to you! : )

Multiplication Video (Review)

Division Video (Review)  The presenter does his dividing a little different than we do in class, but it still works.  : )

The ELD link is for English Language Learners, but everyone might like listening/interacting with it.

Then there are optional printable resources.  It is a very large packet!!!  Pick and choose, or do none of it.  You will not turn in any of the work to me.  If you do decide to work on this printable packet, then just email me for extra credit.  Some pages may be able to completed by doing the work in your head.  This will be on the honor system.

Finally, I have assigned 3 assignments through Google Classroom related to the Journeys lesson above and the math review.  They are due Friday, April 17th.

Update #2:  Monday, April 6th

Good Morning!

We will not be meeting online for 10 hours as I originally thought, but for only about two hours each week.  The 10 hours represents the amount of student work to be done at home.  Don't worry it will be easy for you because you already did it in class anyway! : )  Most of the student work will be done online so it will still be important to use a chromebook/laptop if you can.

I am glad to see that some students are already accessing Lexia(ELA) and dreambox (Math).  If you are done with Lexia, then of course you can access readworks digital at home.  I will grade them some time this week.  Projects are optional for readworks digital.

Also, Mrs. Regis and Mr. Overholt have already posted assignments in Google Classroom.  Check them out!  Fun, fun, fun! : )  Ms. Cindy sent some link to a powerpoint and time capsule that I think might be helpful during this time.  I will post them either on our classroom website and/or google classroom.

Take Care!

Update #1 (revised):  Tuesday, March 31st

First of all, I hope this message finds you healthy and happy.  I wanted to assure you that these next few weeks will be a learning curve for all of us including me!  If something (technology) does not work the first time, then don't give up.  Let me know and I will help you through it.  We will all need to be flexible with this new learning opportunity.

As for our learning mode, we will begin using an online platform (more details to come) starting the week of April 13th.  So if you need a chromebook, then please check one out on Wednesday, April 8th at Citrus Valley High School between the hours of 1 pm and 3 pm.  More details can be found at the district website under the instructional enrichment resources tab by clicking on Technology at Home.  We will only be "meeting up" for about ten hours each week.  I will let you know both with a message through AERIES and through this website the times.

As for grades, don't stress out too much.  Under normal circumstances, I strive to help students earn Cs or higher so under these unusual circumstances grades would only remain the same or go up!

I will be completing grading from previous assignments over the next week and a half and I will figure something out that is fair.

Also, I just received an email saying students may take AR quizzes from home.  Try it out and let me know if it works or does not work.  Remember this week and next week are optional.  There are more optional resources on the district website.  And students are certainly welcome to use the resources on our page.

Take Care!
