Mrs. Whitney Cicogna

Hello Mission Mustangs! My name is Mrs. Cicogna and I have been teaching for ten years. This is my second year at mission, and I love being a part of the Mission family! I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Fifth grade has by far been my favorite grade to teach!! I began my career as a specialized Reading and Writing Intervention teacher and switched to teaching in a general Ed classroom four years later.  I have been told that I am a mix between Ms. Frizzle and Ms. Honey from Matilda... I’ll let you be the judge of that!

I graduated from Cal State University San Bernardino and am a lifelong learner!  I am also a mommy to the sweetest little boy in the world! My husband and I like to take him on as many adventures outdoors and in nature as possible!

Aside from having the best job in the world as a mommy, I also get the opportunity to teach awesome littles!  I’m told I teach a little differently than most, and have a few philosophies I’d like to share with you. First, I believe that all humans should be kind, caring, empathetic, compassionate, and respectful. You will need to know that our class is much like a family because of the love and respect we give one another. Be prepared to be a leader of love and kindness! I also believe that it is impotant to make mistakes because that is how we learn! When we avoid making the same mistake again we have gained responsibility! I understand that all students learn at a different pace, and always strive to make learning fun and engaging. I emphasize putting in effort into everything we do because that's we leads us to success. I know that the start of this year is a little different than all the rest, but I can tell you with confidence that we are going to have the best year yet!! I am excited to spend the school year with you!
