Mentone is a pre-K through 5th-grade school where students attend school from August to June traditional school calendar.  Our school works tirelessly to ensure that students achieve within a caring and nurturing environment. In addition to an exemplary regular education program, our school offers programs to meet the needs of every child, including G.A.T.E., English Language Development, interventions for at-risk students, hobby clubs (e.g. Girls who Code, Robotics, gardening, music, Student Council). A preschool program serving forty-eight 3-5-year-olds with an early childhood development curriculum and is housed next door to our transitions/kindergarten classroom. Our Family Resource Center and P.T.A. involve our families with workshops, family activities, and health support. Our Mentone ASES after-school program and YMCA run a before and after school program to support academics and enrich the learning environment of the regular school day. Mentone School is part of the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) network to help promote a culture of college and career readiness.  We also participate in Positive Behavior Interventions Support (PBIS) to support students with their social and emotional needs.

We are an AVID and PBIS campus where students and staff practice the Mentone's ABCs and where we prepare our students with skills for college and career-ready from TK through 5th grade.

    Mission Statement

We the educators, community members, parents, and staff are committed to ensuring that all our students develop to their fullest academic and physical potential by teaching them to think, so they will make effective choices; communicate, so they will be understood; relate, so others will respect them; build a healthy body, so they can enjoy living; respect themselves and others, so they can live confidently.

Principal's Corner

  • Principal Ingrid Lin

    Dear Mentone Elementary:

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself, Ingrid H. Lin, as the new Principal at Mentone Elementary. My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 17 years as an elementary, middle, and high school teacher and professor, along with administrative experience in three different districts. In each of my roles, I have sought to ensure the success of each student and the school, by providing the best instructional and extracurricular opportunities for all students.

Similarly, it is my number one priority at Mentone Elementary to ensure that every student receives a well-rounded 21st Century education. A well-rounded education demands outstanding instruction from top-notch teachers, as well as extracurricular opportunities, and supports that enable students to develop character, cultivate passions, and explore the world outside of the classroom.

As the Principal at Mentone Elementary, I am committed to ensuring that student needs and interests assist in shaping instruction and extracurricular opportunities. Most importantly, an excellent education is not possible without the great collaboration of students, families, community, and staff. I am looking forward to being part of the Mentone experience and to learn more about the amazing students, families, and staff while learning about the rich school history and success.

I look forward to a great school year ahead of us! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to discuss.
