This is the advanced art class that focuses on ceramics. The class will run as if it is a real world commercial art studio. The focus will be to help students build real world skills such as; time management, problem solving, organization, communication, cooperative learning, and task management. This course will focus on class assignments that will allow the student to explore concepts and techniques inherent to three dimensional studio art in the commercial world, as well as, expressing knowledge of basic art concepts and personal creativity. Students will be offered three paths of exploration; pottery making, jewelry design or metal forming and casting. Students are expected to choose one area of emphasis and focus the majority of their time in the studio exploring and experimenting within that emphasis. Students will also be allowed to explore beyond their desired emphasis, as long as they are being productive within their chosen path of study.
