CVHS AVID: Tutorials
These occur every Tuesday and Thursday with exceptions that may occur due to holidays and or schedule changes.
Tutorials are broken down into three sections:
This is done before class starts and is based on individual work and thought process. The student will identifiy an academic question they need help on, which we refer as the "Initial Question." Then work on it as much as possible until they get to what we call a "Point of Confusion."
This is where students present their pre-work and the group (usually made up of 5-7 students and 1 tutor) collaborate by asking the presenter questions and offer resources to help the presenter reach thier "Ah-Ha" moment, which is when they solve thier IQ and POC.
This is again indivdual work where the students reflect on either their presentation or another student's presentation.
