• United States History is a year-long course that covers material from the pre-colonial time through today's current events.  We will begin with a review of early settlement through the Civil War.  The focus then shifts to the growth of industry in the United States.  Then we examine how the United States grew into being a world power, and how it used that power.  Finally we  look at what the role of the United States should be in today's world.  The primary focus of the course is on the 20th century.  The objective of the course is to show the effects of historical events on the present and future; and how the United States moved from being nonexistent to its current position in the world.
