Welcome to Clement Middle School - Home of the Vikings!
Clement Middle School opened in 1964 as Clement Junior High School and served 8th and 9th graders. In the fall of 1993, our campus bacame the 9th grade campus for Redlands High School. When Redlands East Valley High School opened in 1997, the Freshmen returned to the high school setting and we reopened as Clement Middle School Serving grades 6th through 8th. The Viking tradition is strong and many staff members in the Redlands Unified School District called Clement home at some point in there careers. Once a Viking - Always a Viking!
Awards since becoming Clement Middle School
As a staff, we believe that building relationships with our students enhances their ability to learn. This is evidenced by our grade level teams in which groups of teachers share the same students. This also allows those teachers to share a commonconference period where they can discuss the needs of the students they share. As a student, this means that their teachers will share similar classroom management policies. As a parent, you can contact any one of these teachers with a concern and know that it will be shared with all. This structure supports our mission statement.
"We believe that Clement Middle School should be a place where students welcome and respect diversity. Students will develop their potential through a variety of learning experiences. Our school should be a place where students want to come, and everyone is involved in the education of children, including parents and community members.
We believe that it is our responsibility to provide a safe and positive learning environment with a variety of opportunities to achieve success. It is our responsibility to motivate students, to promote wise choices, and to develop character. We believe that we must be role models who exemplify the excellence we encourage in students.
We believe that students want to feel like they belong and are accepted, that they want to be respected and treated fairly, and that they want to be recognized for their successes. We believe that students need rules, boundaries, structure, and consistency. We believe that students need to develop from dependent 6th graders in a nurturing, sheltered, protected environment, to independent 7th graders who are aware of their value as individuals, to responsible 8th graders who set long term goals, assume leadership roles, and leave middle school prepared for high school.
Greetings!
I am truly proud to serve as the Principal at Clement Middle School. After working at the high school level for sixteen years, I came to the realization that the skills learned in middle school were extremely important for our young people to find success in high school. Since joining this school community in 2008, this has been what drives me to create an outstanding learning environment for our students as they become teenagers. I believe the key to our success can be found in the passion our staff has for children. This passion extends beyond the walls of the classroom and can be felt throughout our campus. Our support staff are members of this community as many of them had children who attended Clement. It is not unusual to find a teacher among students working in the gardens, exploring the Universe through telescopes, sharing their love of dance and theatre, or competing on one of our many intramural teams. This is all part of the Clement Experience that brings students back to our campus in the future to share with us the many great things they are doing in their lives. What a great place to work!
