Welcome to Redlands Unified School District's Interdistrict Transfer Process
For families residing outside our district, this page tells you how to request a transfer into the Redlands USD, outlining eligibility, application steps, and essential timelines. Pay close attention to the conditions for approval.

Eligibility and Application
Students from outside the Redlands USD boundaries can request a transfer into the district through the following steps:

  • An approved interdistrict transfer permit is required from the resident school district prior to submission to the Redlands USD.
  • The following documents/information are also required:
    • Current grades and/or transcripts
    • Current year’s attendance record
    • Comprehensive student discipline records (current year and previous year)

Open Application Period March 1 - April 15

  • Permits are granted on a space-available basis.
    • If space is not available 
      • All applications will be placed on hold
      • A waitlist will be generated by lot (randomly).
      • A letter will go out informing parent that your application is on hold
      • Application process will resume when and if space becomes available
    • All application requests from inside the Redlands USD are considered before all applications from outside the Redlands USD.
    • Students whose applications are on the waitlist may not be notified of availability until after the start of school

After April 15

  • All applications received after April 15 will be date time stamped
  • If space is not available a letter will go out informing parent that your application is on hold
  • All applications will be placed on the waitlist in the order received
  • Students whose applications are on the waitlist may not be notified of availability until after the start of school

After June 30

  • Applications not considered until after the school year starts.

Submission of Documents

  • Transfer documents accepted at the Enrollment Center or via:
    • Mail
      • ATTN: Transfers
        P.O. Box 3008
        Redlands, CA 92373
    • Email Transfer Documents transfers@redlands.k12.ca.us
    • Drop Box (Outside Enrollment Center)
  • Transfer requests will not be reviewed or considered until all required documents are received
Approved Permits
  • Students must be enrolled within 10 business days of approval.
  • Conditions for approval include:
    • The signed transfer agreement, 
    • Positive academic progress (2.0 GPA minimum with no failing grades)
    • Good attendance (90% or better)
    • Good behavior 
    • Parent understands that they must provide their own transportation
  • Transfer approvals may be revoked if any of the specified conditions are not met.
Continued Enrollment

Notice for Team/Squad Tryouts

  • Trying out for a team before transfer approval has no bearing on the acceptance of the transfer.
  • There are restrictions on trying out, practicing, or competing while attending a different school per CIF-SS.
