Safety Communication
Emergency Communication Protocols
Communication Goals
It is the intention of Redlands Unified School District to establish procedures for reporting and communicating emergency situations that may occur at school sites.
The following protocols should be followed during incidents that necessitate lockdowns, police, fire or medical assistance, and any disciplinary action involving law enforcement:
For Lockdowns:
Lockdown implementation will be determined by one of the following:
- Direction by law enforcement
- Direction by District Office administration
- Site administrator decision
Principal or principal designee shall report the incident to the Superintendent’s Office by calling the Assistant to the Superintendent, Carianne Mackamul-Covey at (909) 307-5300 extension 20102.
Communication of the incident to parents via Auto Dialer, letter, social media, etc. will be determined by the Superintendent’s Office or designee. In most cases, any notification(s) to parents will be made AFTER the incident (and/or lockdown) is over.
For Medical Emergencies:
There shall not be a delay in calling emergency support services nor law enforcement when deemed necessary. Do not hesitate to dial 911 in the event of a medical emergency.
If an ambulance or law enforcement are called during the school day, regardless if the person is transported, you shall report the incident to the Superintendent’s Office by calling the Assistant to the Superintendent, Carianne Mackamul-Covey at (909) 307-5300 extension 20102.
If the student is transported, an administrator (or designee) shall go in the ambulance with the student and stay until the parent/guardian arrives at the hospital.
Injuries sustained at athletic events (players and attendees) shall be reported to the Superintendent’s Office by calling the Assistant to the Superintendent, Carianne Mackamul-Covey at (909) 307-5300 extension 20102 or via email, as soon as possible following the incident.
