Welcome to the Redlands Unified School District Special Projects Department. RUSD is committed to the academic achievement of ALL students and our department serves as a resource for teachers, parents and the community. The English Learner and Parent Engagement Department assists teachers and parents by providing relevant information on English Learner topics. Our department also works to strongly support the involvement of all parents in the educational process of their children. Reclassification Criteria

EL PROGRESSION TIMELINE

Reclassification is the process by which school districts determine if English learner students have acquired sufficient proficiency in English to perform successfully in core academic subjects without English Language Development (ELD) support. The reclassification process and criteria are based upon guidelines approved by the California Department of Education (CDE) and the State Board of Education (SBE). RUSD utilizes this progression timeline to guide teachers and administrators in monitoring the language development of our English learner students. Our goal is to reclassify English learner students before, or by, their 6^th year in a U.S. school.

Students who meet the following criteria will be considered candidates for reclassification:
