School Site Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer in the Redlands Unified School District. The Governing Board encourages parents/guardians and other members of the community to share their time, knowledge and abilities with students.

Volunteer assistance in schools enriches the educational program, enhances supervision of students and contributes to school safety while strengthening the schools' relationships with the community. The Board also encourages community members to serve as mentors providing support and motivation to students.

With the passing of AB346 into law in July 2010, we are required to obtain specific documentation from each volunteer. In ALL volunteer situations, you must be 18 years or older.

Volunteer Application

Once the District is in receipt of your completed application and all required documents, your request to volunteer will be processed for Board approval. Volunteers may commence service prior to Board approval if the necessary documentation has been completed and verified by school site administration and/or the Superintendent's office designee. Applications and Board approval MUST be renewed each academic school year.

Please note: State of California residents for at least the past one (1) year will require DOJ service only. State of California residents for less than one (1) year will require DOJ AND FBI service

Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Information

A negative TB test is required to volunteer. If you are new to volunteering with the District, this test must reflect a date that falls within sixty (60) days of the submitted date to the District. Once you have completed your TB test, it will be valid with the District for four (4) years.

Options

a) You can go to your own doctor to have the test, OR

b) Obtain a “Health Services Voucher” from the Human

Resources department.

You will be charged $20.00 if the test is done at this facility with no voucher.
If you require a chest x-ray to rule out TB, please contact the Human Resources department for options.
