Degrees and Certifications:
I have been a teacher for eleven years. I have taught grades k-3 at several schools in the Redlands Unified School District. I attended University of California at Riverside for my undergraduate work as well as for my teaching credential. I recently received my Master degree from Walden University. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a young age when I began collecting workbooks from teachers so I could make the neighborhood children work and I could correct it! I am married and have two adult girls, who attended Mariposa Elementary! I am spoiled as I live right in the neighborhood, and should be walking here everyday! I have been teaching at Mariposa for four years in 3rd grade, Kindergarten and First grade. I enjoy working at this lovely school with teachers and parents that care about children.

Second Grade in Room 5
Welcome to a great year in Room 5! We are working on getting used to user names, passwords and our computer programs that are a part of our curriculum.
Accelerated Reader- Each student has a reading level they are reading books for AR. When they are done with their book, they are able to take a quiz on the computer and will receive points toward their goal. The points are based on their comprehension. Before they take a quiz, please discuss the book and ask comprehension type questions. This will really help them succeed on their quiz. Each week the Homework sheet will give you the percentage and point goal they should be at for the week to reach their goal by the end of the trimester. Remember we only take quizzes at school, but you can look up books on AR Book Finder online to check if your books are AR and what level.
Many of our second graders are doing this for the first time, but we will get it and have fun reading away!!!!!
