WELCOME TO MOORE MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA!
Welcome to Moore Middle School PTSA! The Parent Teacher Student Association is a bit different from the Parent Teacher Association in that it includes students in the Association. We promote student involvement in the PTSA, and we want to encourage you AND your students to join our PTSA. This year’s PTSA Board consists of some amazing parents and students who volunteer their time and incredible talents to help our school community and we invite you to join us! All are welcome! Our membership fee remains at $10 per person this year and membership comes with many opportunities!
Joining the PTSA is as simple as A, B, C…
Access! An important role of the PTSA is to be a voice for parents and students here on campus, in our district, and even in our state and national legislative arenas. The PTSA also provides information from our school, school district, local, state and national PTA/PTSA to parents and students. The PTSA sponsors monthly “Morning (and Evenings) With McCue”, where Principal McCue and Assistance Principal Heidi Van Deventer provide parents with current information on the school, students, family engagement, and other up-to-date topics. If you have a concern or idea, sharing it through PTSA is the way to be heard!
Benefits! Our PTSA has helped to purchase various items for school-wide use recently, including a golf cart for a safe and efficient way to get administrators around campus, books for library and classroom use, a washer/dryer to clean PE clothes, and an ice machine for use by students after PE and for students participating in our award-winning Moore Middle School Marching Band! In addition, our PTSA has coordinated donations of backpacks, binders, and other school supplies for those students in need, provided scholarships for Moore alumni attending college, updated emergency preparedness packs in classrooms, and assisted with campus beautification projects. Our PTSA enables participating students to compete for scholarship money and awards at the local, district, state and national PTA Reflections cultural arts competition held each year. This year’s Reflections theme is “Heroes Around Me” and it kicks off shortly after school starts so look out for more information! There are also benefits you can use as a PTSA member! PTSA members have access to discounts at partnering businesses such as Google Express, Aquarium of the Pacific, and much more.
Collaboration! Our PTSA board promotes student engagement on campus, and supports the efforts of clubs and groups on campus. Principal McCue, Assistant Principal Van Deventer, and our school staff call on PTSA to help with many different events and activities throughout the year like Picture Day, Battle of the Books (a title we will recapture this year!), and the grand tradition of the Moore Mile! It’s reassuring to your students to see that you have a presence at their school and though they might not acknowledge it, they are happy to see you here.
Don’t wait, join PTSA today! If you haven’t already turned in a membership envelope for you and your student ($10 per person) this year, please turn them in to the office as soon as possible to start enjoying all of the benefits PTSA has to offer.
For more information or to learn more about how you can become involved, please email email@example.com. You can also visit the California PTA/PTSA website at www.capta.org and the National PTA/PTSA website at www.pta.org for additional information on our organization. I look forward to a fun and productive year with our Moore Middle School community!
