Miss Sarah Heralda

Hello! Great to meet you and welcome to my page. I am Miss Sarah and I have been working with young children in some capacity since I was 12 years old. I love my job as an educator having the opportunity to work with amazing students. Working together--students, families, teachers, service providers, district/school administrators--as a whole is the key to a successful and healthy relationship in a child’s educational experience. For young children, their “work” is play: to do things; explore; touch/feel/smell/taste things in their environment; and practice new skills. Young children learn best hands-on and through self-initiation along with guidance from others while they explore materials in their environment. In my class, children will learn and practice new skills of development in the areas of: Social/Emotional/Behavioral, Receptive/Expressive Language, Cognitive, Gross/Fine/Sensory Motor, and Self Help/Adaptive. At a young age, children begin to understand that for every choice they make there is a positive and negative outcome. I feel that it is my responsibility as an educator, to ensure healthy developmental skills and a positive learning experience. I plan to build a foundation of real experiences in my classroom through my own personal teaching philosophy of 'work through play'. In my opinion, play provides children a pathway in developing their own strengths, interests, and knowledge of how the world they live in works.
