Principal's Corner

  • Dear Blue Jay families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!

Since joining Bryn Mawr in 2013 I have been so very fortunate to be part of an amazing school and staff dedicated to growing our students academically, emotionally, and socially.  While we have seen changes in education in recent years, I am happy to say the strong partnership with our students, parents, and community members has remained constant.  It is the basis on which we build our success, and on which we continue to grow together as a community of learners.  This formula for success helped us achieve the designation of California Distinguished School in 2018, and I know even greater things are in store for our Blue Jay community!

The social, emotional, AND academic growth of our students is paramount along with their health and safety.  To that end, we will continue to monitor and follow COVID-19 safety protocols as deemed appropriate according to district, county and state guidelines.   Rest assured, we are always thinking about WIN-WIN resolutions to any challenges, and to see our Blue Jays thrive at school.

This year our staff and students will participate again in the "Year 3" work of creating our future leaders through the "Leader In Me" system, since our implementation was impacted by Distance Learning during the pandemic.  This year will focus on students identifying Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) for themselves, and tracking progress in individual Leadership Notebooks.  Based on the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," our entire staff continues to receive training to build leadership capacity in students, and to "see the genius" in every child.  We look forward to creating a culture where students understand that change and leadership begins with each one of them, that they are empowered to achieve all their "WIGs," and that they will leave Bryn Mawr after 5th grade with "life-ready" skills for their continued success.

I look forward to another great year of working to see students grow in their wisdom and kindness toward others, and become prepared to take the next steps towards their futures filled with great potential and limitless possibilities.  I am so proud of each one of our Blue Jays, and believe greatly in their being able to go forward to impact our world in positive ways.

If you have any questions or needs, please feel free to contact me at school.

    Sincerely,

    Rick Aleksak, Principal
