  • In order to better supervise student arrival/drop-off  and dismissal/pick-up to ensure student safety, parents will need to report to the office before entering the school starting September 4, 2018 (see information below).  Please be sure to pre-arrange with your child which gate they will be using to enter/exit the campus (Olive Ave. gate at the front of the school or the gate on Michigan Ave.).  Thank you so much for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our school safe!

Welcome

  • 1903 McKinley School House

Welcome to McKinley Elementary School where students come first and standards of academic excellence abound. A significant historical fact about McKinley is that it was the last of ten schools to be built in the city of Redlands before incorporation at the astronomical cost of $10,000 in 1903. Most of the current facilities were built in 1938 with an additional wing of classrooms added in the 1960's. In 1998, six portable classrooms were placed on the campus to house an increasing student population. Nevertheless, it continues to be a quaint neighborhood school rich in tradition and known for not having a parking lot. Most of our students live within walking distance of the school which is why, on a typical day, you will see parents and children arrive hand-in-hand excited to be on campus.

Principal's Corner

  • Principal Aponte with Students at Harvest Festival Howdy!

    And, welcome to McKinley Elementary!

I have proudly served as McKinley’s school administrator since the middle of the 2010-2011 academic year. I can share with full confidence that my journey here has truly been an amazing adventure. Each year has brought new rewarding challenges that remind me of why I became an educator almost 20 years ago. Together with my staff, we are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to flourish and strive for academic excellence. Additionally, our PTA works diligently to support student programs, raise money for special field trips and organize family/community events for our campus.

We want to encourage parents to visit our school and become involved! We strongly believe your involvement is essential to the academic success your child will have here at McKinley. My staff and I encourage all parents to become familiar with our website, sign up for Facebook/Twitter notifications and regularly meet with your child’s teacher. Your participation is needed and very much valued here at McKinley.

On behalf of the entire staff, let’s work together to ensure that the 2017/2018 school year will be a huge success.

    Sincerely,
    Marc Aponte
    Principal
