Choirs

We have 4 different choirs offered at RHS.

Chamber Singers: Prerequisites: Audition only and permission of instructor.

This is the advanced, auditioned, select mixed-voiced ensemble at RHS, open to grades 10-12. The Chamber Singers study advanced literature of all styles and genres. Vocal technique is mastered, and musicianship skills, sight-singing, and music theory and further studied. The choir will attend traditional choral festivals and competitions and will embark on an annual choral tour in the spring.

Les Chanteuses: Prerequisites: Audition and permission of instructor.

This is an auditioned, select all-female concert and show choir open to grades 9-12. Vocal production and musicianship skills are studied through many styles of music. Sight-singing and music theory are studied. In addition to the different idioms of pop music and show choir, the ensemble prepares as a concert choir for the fall semester. The group will study different dance styles in their chorography as well. The group will be showcased in various festivals, concerts, and competitions throughout the school year. This choir also will embark on an annual tour in the spring.

Cantare:

This is a beginning/intermediate level vocal ensemble for young women grades 9-12. The class teaches the basics of good singing and musicianship, including music theory and sight singing. The group performs all styles of music, specializing in music written specifically for a treble choir. The group will perform in festivals and concerts.

Varsity Men:

This is a beginning/intermediate level vocal ensemble for men in grades 9-12. The class teaches the basics of good singing and musicianship, including music theory and sight singing. The group performs all styles of music, specializing in music written specifically for a men’s choir. The group will perform in festivals and concerts.
