RISE stands for Redlands Independent Study Education. It is not a school, but rather a program where students in the Redlands Unified School District can receive their education through independent study. All of our students are registered at their home school and can return to that school at any time. The RISE program is voluntary and can be an alternative to the regular school program. Our students follow the same state and district approved curriculum and even the same textbooks in most cases.

Students with the ability and desire to work independently to complete assignments, score well on state assessments, and have support at home, but are unable to attend school on a daily basis, may be good candidates for independent study.

Students meet with their assigned teacher(s) once a week, for an hour, to turn in work, and will be assigned their next week's work. For middle and high school students, there may be additional tutoting and/or lab hours assigned as needed in addition to this one-hour teacher appointment.

If you are interested in your student joining the RISE program, please speak to your student's counselor (Grades 6-12), or principal (Grades K-5). You may also view this STEP-BY-STEP guide for R.I.S.E. enrollment.  Applying for RISE does not guarantee your student enrollment in RISE, it merely places the student on our interest list which we use to fill our enrollment. We will contact you regarding your student's application as soon as we have a spot for them.
