A Message from Superintendent Mauricio Arellano

Dear RUSD Parents and Community Members:

Last night I was offered and accepted the position of Superintendent for the San Bernardino Unified School District. As many of you may not know, I was raised in and started my career in San Bernardino. Serving as the Superintendent of Redlands Unified School District has been the highlight of my career and I am grateful for all of the friendships that we have built during my tenure in Redlands. Accepting this position was not an easy decision for me and my family but the allure for me to return back to San Bernardino and support the 47,000 students whose life experiences and stories are similar to mine proved to be a determining factor.

It has been a true honor and a privilege to serve the remarkable students of Redlands Unified School District and work alongside so many outstanding teachers, support personnel, administrators, community members and Board Trustees over the past nearly six years. I am extremely proud of all that we have accomplished together and all the support that you have given this amazing District.

Information related to my departure date and my replacement will be forthcoming once the members of the Board of Education have had an opportunity to discuss and plan accordingly. There will be time in the near future to allow me to profusely and properly thank everyone in our organization as well as highlight all of the accomplishments that have served our students well. In the meantime, we still have much work to do to support our students and community in meeting the goals of the RUSD 2025: Excellence for All Students vision.

Thank you for all of the support that you have given me during our journey together.
